Compound reservation units
A Compound reservation unit is formed by combining multiple reservation units (space, asset, flexible workspace units). The combination typically has a parent (main) reservation unit and one or more child reservation units. The parent and child reservation units are linked together and once a reservation is created on a parent reservation unit, all the related child reservation units are also reserved for that period. For example, a room that can be split into two separate rooms using a removable wall.
The following combinations of space/asset/flexible workspace units are possible for creating compound reservation units:
• A main space unit with space/asset/flexible workspaces as children.
• A main flexible workspace with asset units as children.
A child reservation unit (linked to a compound reservation unit) cannot be a parent to any other reservation unit.
An asset unit can never be a parent reservation unit in a compound reservation unit.
Following image shows an example of parent and child hierarchy:
S1 is a parent reservation unit and S2, S3 are child reservation units.
The reservations created for these three reservation units in graphical planner is displayed below:
When parent S1 is reserved, ghost reservations are automatically created for children S2 and S3. When S2 is reserved, the parent S1 will also be reserved, since S2 is part of S1. Same is the case when S3 is reserved. Primary reservation is indicated by green color and ghost reservation is indicated by gray color on the graphical planner.
